Jackaroo

The Holden Jackaroo is based on the Isuzu Trooper, which has a good reputation as an off road vehicle, so it's no surprise that owners like them. It's comfortable enough that you won't fall out of love with it after a long day in the driver's seat but sturdy and capable enough to be a perfect expedition wagon. Fit one out right and there aren't many places it won't take you. At Tough Toys we're big fans of the Jackaroo, so we've made sure that our range of gear includes plenty of bits to let you get the most out of yours.

The range of accessories available for the Jackaroo goes from extra gear for your toolkit to major add-ons and replacement parts. It all depends on how much you want to spend and how much extra capability you want to add. It doesn't matter how ambitious you are though; Tough Toys have quality upgrades to suit any budget. We're 4wd enthusiasts ourselves and know the importance of good value, so we keep our prices as low as we can by selling exclusively online. This also lets us deliver anywhere in Australia, which is all good.

If you want to keep it simple, but still help your Jackaroo get around off road, why not add some top class recovery gear to your kit? Even a Jackaroo sometimes finds patches it can't get through without problems, like loose sand or soft mud. Throw some sand channels in the back – we recommend Treds – and you'll be able to get across soft ground or get yourself out if it goes a bit wrong. A folding shovel is a nice thing to have, too, and it won't take up much space. If you need pulled out a snatch strap or two will do a much better job than a cheap tow rope, and we really suggest you get an exhaust jack.

A step up the upgrade ladder is a snorkel. These don't just let you wade through deep water; they also keep dust out your air filter when the tracks are dry. Our Safari snorkels are made in Australia and they're outstanding bits of kit. They're tough, easy to install and look great, and they really work. You can even turn the intake head round to keep heavy rain or snow out.

Still want more? How about some extra lights? The Jackaroo's headlights are fine for driving on roads, but when you get more adventurous they have the same problems as any other headlights. The main one is they're too low. If the ground's dry clouds of dust will quickly obscure your headlight beams; if it's wet mud will plaster the lenses. An LED lightbar mounted on the roof doesn't have these problems, and it also gives your Holden a proper, rugged look.

We can also help you out with long range and auxiliary fuel tanks – if you like you can increase fuel capacity to a massive 210 litres – and a range of awnings, mozzie nets and other camping gear to make your off road expeditions as comfortable as they are exciting.
